Bulky Wastes
Bulky wastes include tyres, mattresses, and other large items. These materials
require different handling methods to ordinary waste, to ensure safe transportation
and disposal.
Will WSN Environmental Solutions accept my bulky wastes?
These materials have additional disposal requirements, including prior
booking and site preparation, additional supervision and the careful use
of machinery.
The requirements for disposal of these wastes are part of the licence conditions
set by the NSW
Department of Environment and Climate Change
for WSN Environmental Solutions landfills.
The guidelines are in place to protect
the environment, staff and customers at our Waste and Recycling Centres.
The following products are accepted as Bulky Wastes:
- Tyres — only large tyres, which are not shredded, are required to be booked as a special waste. These are only accepted at the Lucas Heights Waste and Recycling Centre.
- Mattresses — one ensemble or two individual mattresses per load.
Other large objects such as industrial ovens or large sections of construction and demolition material may be required to be booked as Bulky Waste to ensure that adequate supervision and appropriate machinery is in place at the disposal site.
Bulky wastes must be booked as a special waste, which can only be accepted at nominated WSN landfills (not transfer stations). These wastes must be booked into a WSN landfill at least one working day prior to disposal by telephoning 1300 651 116 between 7.00 am and 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday.
Please note that unused bookings do not carry forward - if you miss your appointment, you will have to make another booking.
To avoid paying the higher special waste rate for general waste, please separate your bulky wastes from your general waste.
